Demodulator status information is only available when Verify-QC is used with an LD2 demodulator (it is not yet available with the LD2S).
This feature is provided to assist in diagnosing problems with L-band reception. It is not implemented in most standard installations but can be added if required.
An additional interface is required between port P4 of the LD2 and a spare serial port on the Verify QC computer. If port P4 is already interfaced (its main function is to output RTCM corrections) a special cable harness will be required so that P4 may be interfaced to two separate ports on the Verify QC computer.
Note: If required, VERIPOS can supply a suitable cable harness or splitter box.
The status information is output in RS232 format from pin 8 of port P4 on the LD2 (signal return on pin 5). It must connected to pin 2 (signal return on pin 5) of a spare serial port on the Verify-QC computer:
Both the LD2 and Verify-QC must be configured for the additional interface.
Configuring the LD2:
The LD2 is configured using its two-line LCD display and the key pad on the front panel.
Repeatedly press the “Page” key until the display shows:
Press “Enter” then press “Page” twice to display:
Press “Enter” then press “Page” three times to display the menu for port P4:
Press “Toggle” to display the “MESSAGES” option:
Press “Enter” to move the cursor to the next field.
If “MESSAGES” does not already show “TEST”, press “Toggle” to cycle through the available options until “TEST” is displayed.
Press “Enter” to move the cursor to the baud rate field. The baud rate may be changed by pressing the “Toggle” key.
It is recommended that the baud rate should be left at the default rate of 9600 baud.
Press “Enter” to move the cursor to the terminator field:
Pressing “Toggle” will change between “ADD CR” (for add Carriage Return) and “ADD LF” (for add Line Feed).
Both “ADD CR” and “ADD LF” must be set to “Y”.
If either is set to “N”, press “Enter” to move the cursor to the left of the “N”.
The “Toggle” key can then be used to change the selection to “Y” (enabled).
Press “Enter” to confirm the selection and move the cursor back to the left of “ADD”.
Connect the additional RS232 input from the LD2 to a spare port on the Verify QC computer and note the port number.
An RTCM input will already have been configured for the LD2. The user must identify this input.
From the main menu, select Config > RTCM Input. Select the input previously configured for the LD2 and click “Edit”.
Under “Demodulator Status IO” click “Edit” to display the entry dialog below:
Tick the “Enabled” box then click on the down-arrow to open the drop down list for “IO Device”.
Select “Serial Port”. This opens the port configuration dialog. From the “Port” drop-down list, select the serial port used for interfacing the status input. The baud rate must match that set on the LD2 (normally 9600) and the format should be left at N, 8, 1.
Click “OK” to close each dialog box.
The raw status data may be viewed using the “View” / “I/O” window. Note that the data is only output once per minute.
